The NBA season 2022-23 is only 28 days away, so there is something to be thrilled about for NBA fans. The NBA regular season begins on Tuesday, October 18.
On Wednesday, NBA Central tweeted a list of the top 10 salaries in the NBA for the next season.
Highest paid NBA players 2022
1- Steph Curry – $48M
2- Russell Westbrook – $47M
3- LeBron James – $44.4M
4- Kevin Durant – $44.1M
5- Bradley Beal – $43.2M
6- Paul George – $42.4M
7- Kawhi Leonard – $42.4M
8- Giannis Antetokounmpo – $42.4M
9- Damian Lillard – $42.4M
10- Klay Thompson – $40.6M”
The list is always interesting because salaries rarely correspond to who the top players in the NBA are in any given season.
For example, Russell Westbrook was previously a real superstar who won the NBA MVP award in 2017.
Nonetheless, at 33, he is no longer the player he once was.
He is still very talented, averaging 18.5 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 7.1 assists per game in 78 games last year, but he is hardly the world’s second-best player.
It’s reasonable that Steph Curry and LeBron James are both ranked in the top three.
Another one that is interesting is Bradley Beal, who just signed a new deal this summer.
He is definitely an All-Star caliber player, but he is not better than Giannis Antetokounmpo, who is a two-time MVP and just won the NBA Championship in 2021.
Another thing to keep in mind is young superstars are still on their rookie deals or just now entering into their second contracts.
