George Russell will start the Singapore Grand Prix
George Russell will start the Singapore Grand Prix from the pit lane on Sunday because he used more engine parts than were allotted to him.
The Marina Bay Circuit’s Russell qualified 11th, however, Mercedes replaced his power unit and he will now start from the rear.
The British driver, who is Lewis Hamilton’s teammate, has had a strong debut season, placing in the top five in every race he has competed in.
But after his punishment, Russell will find it difficult to maintain that stellar record.
For the race on Sunday, Charles Leclerc of Ferrari starts from the front row ahead of Sergio Perez of Red Bull, with Lewis Hamilton in third.
Due to Red Bull under-fueled his car, Max Verstappen only starts eighth. With five rounds remaining, the Dutch driver needs to prevail in order to have any chance of winning his second championship.

F1 in Singapore postponed to 3:05 due to severe rain
F1 in Singapore postponed – Due to heavy rain, the start of the Formula One race in Singapore has been postponed. The motorsport global organization Fia first said on Sunday that the entire starting procedure had to be postponed without providing any additional information. The race would begin at 9:05 p.m. local time, according to the organizers (3:05 p.m. CEST).
Heavy rain began at 8p.m (local time) in the Asian city-state, a little more than an hour before the Grand Prix was set to begin; lightning was also spotted later. The supporters swiftly dispersed from the stands in search of safety. The water was unable to drain and first sat on the railway while it continued to rain fiercely. After an hour of rain, marshals sought to remove water accumulations off the course with brooms.
